Proven Coaching Methods
The two main functions acheived with our coaching are Speed and Accuracy. The faster the QB can get the ball out of his hand and with pin-point accuracy, really is what everything else builds up to. Our coaching methods are implemented in phases to assure each quarterback achieves success. Each discipline is partly acheived before moving onto the next phase of training. Coaching in this manner allows our staff to sculpt and fine-tune each student athlete into a successful QB. Each phase enhances the student athlete's self-esteem, thus building his leadership ability as well. These proven phases take time and dedication from the students as well as the parents to acheive the desired results. Although coach Gregory can help most quarterbacks within the first hour of training, our training time to acheive our desired level of success is typically two to three years,(depending the amount of months used for training). The steps to our proven success method of training are as follows:
PHASE 1 - Stance & Feet.
Foot placement during the drop.
Ball Control and Handling during the drop.
Foot Speed
"Feet - Feet - Feet !!"
For the most part, all QB Coaches are good and teach the same basic fundamentals. We've all learned what we know from some other coach so there's no big secret about QB training, however I am learning that almost all other private QB coaches across the country spend more time on throwing mechanics rather than footwork. My philosophy is with precise footwork comes precise throwing mechanics. Your QB may not have the strongest arm or fastest feet, but with precise footwork, he will have the ability and self-confidence to make that 3 down and 14 yard first down conversion without hesitation. I spend a great deal of time on cutting away all wasted motion which ultimately saves time and allows the QB to have faster decision making ability as well as passing the ball much faster. I spend a tremendous amount of time on passing, accuracy and arm strength building, but I also know defensive ends who can throw an accurate pass for 90 yards.....and there's a reason why they play DE rather than QB.
PHASE 2 - Proper Passing Position.
Feet and hip coordination for proper passing position.
Hip & leg explosion into each pass.
Properly setting your feet before passing.
Proper body and arm mechanics to make the
transition from baseball to football.
PHASE 3 - Passing Accuracy & Arm Strength building.
Foot, hip and body alignment for maximum
passing accuracy.
Quick release passing.
PHASE 4 - Eye-sight Control.
Eye focus for passing.
Difference between passing the ball and
throwing the ball.
PHASE 5 - Reading coverage.
Pre-snap read.
Recognizing Depth of defensive coverage.
Route variations & different passing
trajectories.
Passing to specific coverages.
Receiver target location with route variation.
